This rare blue gem from the Caribbean is called Larimar and is only found in one square kilometer on a lush tropical island of the Dominican Republic. Found in 1974 and named for the discoverers daughter, Lara and "mar" which is Spanish for "sea". He traced the deposit up in into the hills where it is mined from the neck of an ancient volcano.
