Feldspar Family
Feldspar is the most common mineral in the crust of the earth and many of our favorite gemstones are from the feldspar family.
The feldspar family all has what is called a "distinct cleavage" or it breaks at the crystal intersections in a straight line. Most feldspars are a 6-6.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness.
