Moonstone

There are many different types of stone called "moonstone" but only the stones based in the feldspar family are true moonstones.

Moonstones can be of the orthoclase or plagioclase feldspar and show "adularescence" or the colorful glow within the stones.

Peach and gray silky moonstones are members of the orthoclase family and show a sparkly or silky texture.

The most valuable moonstones have a clear body and a deep and bright blue glow.

Moonstone is June's alternate birthstone.

We are currently exploring a moonstone deposit near our mine in Oregon which we are looking at exploring for lapidary purposes.
