Jadeite

Jadeite can be found in a wide variety of colors from gray to green, gold to yellow, pinks to blue and lavenders, reds, white, brown and black. Many show multiple colors. Jadeite is a gems quality silicate mineral in they pyroxene family. Jadeite can occur in nodules, lenses and veins. 

Jadeite ahs an interlocking cryptocrystalline structure and is the harder of the jades. It has a durable structure and smooth glassy finishes. 

Jadeite has been important to many ancient and modern cultures. Many people do not know that jadeite was introduced to China in 1784 from Burma (Myanmar today). 

Jadeite is also found in Guatemala and was used in jewelry and tools in Mexico and central America for a very long time before the Chinese ever laid eyes on it.
