Ancient wood grain frozen in stone. The surface still carries the quiet geometry of the original tree… tiny cellular patterns, growth lines, and mineral bands that formed as silica slowly replaced the wood over millions of years. Soft greens, tan bands, and darker fossil shadows give the stone a calm earthy presence.
This small cabochon was cut from Oregon petrified wood, where ancient forests were buried and mineralized as groundwater replaced organic material with silica. The microscopic cellular structure of the original wood is still visible across the face. The stone was shaped into an asymmetrical cabochon and wrapped in hand-hammered copper that follows the natural lines of the fossil. Only one available.
