This one is basically a tiny geological ruin. Red and coral orbicular patterns run through translucent chalcedony while open geode pockets break straight through the stone, lined with sparkling microcrystalline quartz. Instead of treating those openings as imperfections, I built the wrap around them. Light can actually travel through the pendant, turning the cavities into part of the design.
The contrast in this piece is what got me... highly polished jasper and chalcedony right beside untouched crystalline pockets. You can see multiple stages of silica deposition preserved together, from the patterned cryptocrystalline material to the little crystal-lined voids left open inside it. The long hammered sterling line follows that internal structure rather than covering it.
