This stone carries the memory of an ancient palm forest turned to silica. Rounded cellular patterns mark where vascular bundles once carried water through living wood. What remains is a fossil cross section where organic structure hardened into chalcedony over deep time.
Palm wood fossilizes when mineral rich groundwater replaces the original plant tissue cell by cell. The circular patterns seen here are the preserved vascular bundles typical of palm species, now locked into stone. This cabochon was cut to highlight those fossil structures and wrapped in hammered copper that follows the natural shape of the piece. Only one available.
