About Aquamarine

Aquamarine is a member of the beryl family and gets its blue-to-blue-green color from trace amounts of iron. It can range from soft seafoam to a cold steel blue, depending on where and how it formed.

The name comes from Latin—aqua marina, meaning “water of the sea”—a fitting nod to its calming clarity and ocean-hued transparency.

Aquamarine has long been believed to offer protection for sailors and warriors alike, used historically as a talisman against misfortune and to sharpen the mind. Ancient lapidaries claimed it could resolve conflicts, soothe nerves, and strengthen personal courage.

With a Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8, aquamarine is durable enough for daily wear in rings, pendants, and earrings. It’s the traditional birthstone for March and a beloved gift for anyone who finds peace near the water.
