Deep black Australian matrix opal is covered in tiny flashes of electric blue, with green fire showing along one side as the stone moves. The dark body makes every bit of color hit harder, while the simple silver wrap leaves most of that beautiful face completely open.
Andamooka matrix opal comes from South Australia. Unlike a solid seam of opal, the precious opal is held throughout the host rock. This piece has been treated, as is traditional for Andamooka matrix opal, to darken the matrix and bring out the natural play-of-color. The result is that incredible black background with blue and green fire scattered across nearly the entire stone.
