This one is a tiny cross-section through the life of a mineral deposit. Soft white quartz wraps around translucent bands of pale gray chalcedony, while little mossy green inclusions sit inside the center. The natural outside edge is still there, giving you the polished interior and the rough shape of the original stalactite together.
Often sold in the trade as āsolar quartz,ā these pieces are slices through stalactitic quartz and chalcedony growth. The concentric layers record repeated mineral deposition as silica-rich fluids built the formation outward over time. This specimen also carries mossy green mineral inclusions, giving it that classic moss agate character without hiding the geology that made it.
