Quartz Crystals

Quartz Crystals: Nature’s Geometric Powerhouses
Many of the quartz rocks we love—whether they're polished points, raw clusters, or gemmy chunks—are actually whole or partial quartz crystals. Sometimes it's a single large crystal, and other times it's multiple crystals grown together in a unified mass.
These are macrocrystalline quartz varieties, meaning the individual crystals are large enough to see with the naked eye. Their clarity, color, and shape vary depending on trace elements, temperature, and geologic conditions during growth.
Common Quartz Crystal Varieties:
-
Clear Quartz – Also called rock crystal, this is the purest form of quartz with no (or very few) inclusions or color.
-
Amethyst – A purple variety of quartz colored by iron and natural irradiation.
-
Rose Quartz – Soft pink quartz, often massive, but sometimes forming crystal clusters. Its color is due to trace amounts of titanium, manganese, or iron.
-
Citrine – Golden to amber quartz, often formed by natural or heat-induced alteration of amethyst or smoky quartz.
These crystals are not just beautiful—they reflect the underlying order of Earth’s chemistry, forming with six-sided symmetry and incredible clarity under the right conditions.
