About Oregon Bumblebee Plume Agate

Meet Oregon Bumblebee Plume Agate/Jasper—a bold new material straight out of Eastern Oregon, found at just one known mine and unlike anything else on the market.
This plume-textured cryptocrystalline quartz has a hardness of around 7, making it lapidary-ready and capable of taking a high polish. What really sets Oregon Bumblebee apart, though, is its metallic sparkle—thanks to naturally occurring inclusions that catch light in unexpected ways.
What Does It Look Like?
Oregon Bumblebee is easy to spot thanks to its striking contrast:
-
Black and gray plumes floating in a white to tan base
-
Accents of orange, gold, and yellow—like streaks of fire or insect wing patterns
-
Textures range from plume to flame to lace, often in the same piece
It’s named not just for its color, but for its attitude—loud, unexpected, and impossible to ignore.
This is a very limited deposit, and we’re just beginning to explore the range of patterns and quality it has to offer.
